COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A roster of well-known speakers played a role at the Hard Hand of War Symposium one day after the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
The group met Friday, April 10 to highlight a collection of Civil War artifacts at the National Infantry Museum.
Todd Brewster, who co-authored three books with the late ABC news anchor Peter Jennings, renowned Civil War Historians Bell and Steve Harvey all participated in a symposium that was facilitated by Dr. Gordon Jones.
"It's a conference today called The Hard Hand Of War which is taken from a quote from General William Tecumseh Sherman describing what the Civil War had become in its last year," explained military historian Dr. Gordon Jones. "From May of '64 through May of 1865… and that's what the conference is about."
The symposium was a rare opportunity for people throughout the region to gain a broader understanding of the choices that shaped our nation's future.
