Unknown amount of sewage discharged into Rock Creek

The Baldwin County Health Department notified the City of Robertsdale of a overflow estimated between 10,000 and 100,000 gallons of sewage currently being discharged into Rock Creek.

According to officials, while an exact number of gallons could not be determined, they are certain the overflow is not less than 10,000 gallons however, it does not exceed 100,000 gallons. Heavy rainfall is the cause of the overflow.

Health Department officials are urging residents to "exercise caution" when using Rock Creek for recreational purposes. They are also advising residents to thoroughly cook any fish or seafood caught in the nearby area as well as to thoroughly wash their hands after handling fish or seafood for the next week.

Signs have also been placed in the area warning residents of the spill.
