Police say they have possibly identified vehicle that ran over bicyclist

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Phenix City police say they have possibly identified the vehicle that ran over a bicyclist on April 2.

Police say forensic evidence from the vehicle has been collected and delivered to the state crime lab.

The PCPD is waiting for results of comparison testing of submitted evidence. They will submit a Grand Jury presentation should comparison results warrant such action.

The vehicle ran over 26-year-old Sean K. Rey of Phenix City after he was hit by another car while riding his bike to work.

The vehicle that hit Rey stopped, but the second vehicle, described as a maroon sedan by witnesses, fled the scene after running over him.

We will continue following this story and will post updates as they become available.

Meanwhile, officials say Rey is still at the hospital in critical condition. Family and friends of Rey have started a fundraiser to help with his medical bills. You can purchase a T-shirt for $20 by
