COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Publix supermarkets celebrated their 85th anniversary Friday.
Their associates participated in "Publix Serves Day" to give back to their communities.
You can see local Publix employees beautifying the Homeless Resource Network on 2nd avenue in Columbus.
They painted the front of the building, cleaned up the yard, and deeply cleaned the inside of the building.
Organizers said they're fulfilling their founder's vision.
"It is our culture to give back to our community its one of our founding principles and the philosophy of our founder and we have almost a hundred and seventy thousand associates now and many of them today are conducting a volunteer effort," Randy Burt said, area district manager.
Employees across the southeast will also volunteer to help non-profit organizations focus on youth, education, and ending hunger.
