PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Owners of one Phenix City business say a homemade pipe bomb is the latest in a string of alleged attacks aimed at breaking into the business.
Uptown Jewelry and Pawn owners say a homemade explosive device blew up on their front door Saturday evening.
They say it was made inside a soda bottle with tacks and nails, and owners suspect it was an attempt to steal property inside.
Employees claim someone previously tried to shoot off the lock and run their car through a wall to gain entry.
Police are investigating after the jewelry store owners say these alleged attacks have taken a toll on the family-owned business.
"It's costly, you have to replace the door and then you're always nervous about when you're leaving at night and things like that," said employee Jay Nowell.
The store's owners are offering a $500 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
