Phenix City Council reaches agreement for Independence Day fireworks, purchases police cruisers

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - The Phenix City Council tackled an "explosive" topic at their city council meeting Tuesday night. 

A resolution approving the city's agreement for its July 4th fireworks show was passed.

The city had previously reached an agreement with a pyrotechnic group for the city's 4th of July fireworks. 

The city will enter into a contract with Pyrotecnico worth just over $11,000 for the city's fireworks on July 4th at the Phenix City Amphitheater

Meanwhile, the city's police department received a boost at Tuesday's meeting.

The city council approved the purchase of four police cruisers for the Phenix City Police Department.

The city will purchase the 2015 Dodge Chargers from Ben Atkinson motors for a total of about $90,300.
