More charges filed against incarcerated child pornography suspect

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Additional charges have been filed against an Opelika man incarcerated in the Lee County Detention Facility.

Jerry Lee Ray, 26, was arrested on April 22 on nine additional warrants associated with the production of child pornography. He was charged with two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree and seven counts of possession of child pornography and obscene matter of a person under 17 years of age.

Ray's bond was originally set at $115,000. The new charges have resulted in Ray's bond amount being increased to $375,000.

After Ray's initial arrest in February 2015, the Lee County Sheriff's Office continued the investigation which resulted in the discovery of additional evidence linking Ray to four additional victims and the resulting warrants.

All of Ray's victims have been between the ages of 3 and 12 years at the time of the offenses. Indications are that all of these crimes occurred in a residence located in Opelika from 2013 to early 2015.

On February 3 at approximately 3 p.m. CST, Lee County Sheriff's Investigators and the Lee County Swat Team executed arrest warrants and a search warrant at Ray's home at located on Lee Road 622.

He was taken into custody without incident, and he was charged at that time with production of obscene matter of a person under 17 years of age, dissemination of obscene matter of a person under 17 years of age, and possession of obscene matter of person under 17 years of age.

The offenses connected to these charges were reported on February 1 and involved production of pornographic material involving a victim who was approximately 5 years of age. According to the victims, these crimes occurred in a residence located in Lee County around December 2014.
