(WTVM) - Thousands showed up next to the Chattahoochee River on Friday night to celebrate unity.
The event was called "Revival on the River: Unity Night." People filled the Phenix City Amphitheater. There was a variety of music - from hip hop and dance to church worship groups.
Local pastors prayed for the mayors of Columbus and Phenix City, who both spoke at the event.
Revival on the River continues Saturday, April 25 with an afternoon filled with community service called "Take the City."
"On Saturday we're all going to be doing a different project around Columbus and Phenix City area, picking up trash in the serving this area on Saturday at noon," said event organizer Andrew Chalmers.
At Friday's event, the first 3,000 people got free Chick-Fil-A meals. WTVM's Jason Dennis was honored to serve as co-emcee for the Unity Night, which brought people from both cities and all walks of life together.
