LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – Two Smiths Station, Ala. men have been arrested in Lee County, and both face rape and sodomy charges, according to a Lee County Sheriff's Office press release on Saturday.

Lee County Sheriff's investigators arrested Christopher Darez Washington, 32, and Moses Phillip III, 45, both of Smiths Station, AL, for first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

The arrests happened on April 24 when they were arrested at their residences which are located in close proximity of each other on Lee Road 235 in the Smith's community in southeast Lee County.

Washington and Phillips are currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility with bond set at $125,000. The charges the two men face stem from the following events:

On April 22 at 9:01 pm CT, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a Smiths Station resident who reported that an unknown female was banging on their door screaming that she had been raped.

Responding deputies met with the victim, a 23-year-old female, who reported that she had been hanging out with several acquaintances at a nearby home when two of the male suspects, who are known offenders, according to the police, forced her into a bedroom, held her down and forcibly raped her.

The victim stated that she managed to escape her attackers and ran to a nearby house. The victim was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where she was treated and released for injuries she suffered as a result of the sexual assault.

If you have any information about this case or any other case please contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (334)-749-5651 or Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-522-7847.
