Police: Pedestrian killed Sunday in 1-vehicle accident in Phenix City

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – According to the Phenix City Police Department, a pedestrian was struck and later died of his injuries as a result of a one-car accident on Sunday night.

Police say they responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision on Bonanza Drive around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrived, the officers discovered that a man, identified as Nathan Wombles, 31, of Phenix City, AL, had been struck by a 16-year-old male driving a 1987 Jeep Wrangler.

Wombles was taken to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, where he was pronounced dead.
