Law enforcement officers receive credible threats from criminal gangs

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Monday, April 27 the Baltimore Police Department notified all U.S. Law Enforcement Agencies that the BPD Criminal Intelligence Unit has received a credible threat stating that members of various criminal gangs including Black Guerilla Family, Bloods, and Crips have entered into a partnership to "take-out" law enforcement officers.

Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr strongly encourages law enforcement agencies to take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers and employees.

Any citizen who has any information pertaining to this threat or any other threat to law enforcement personnel is asked to contact any of the following:

Muscogee County Sheriff's Office

Columbus Police Department

Muscogee County Marshal's Office

Federal Bureau of Investigation

The threats are in response to the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died after sustaining serious injuries while in the custody of Baltimore police. His death intensified a national debate over police treatment of African-Americans.
