COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One local man is not only one of the fittest individuals in Columbus; he now qualifies as one of the fittest individuals in the world.
Keith Williams, 55, recently completed the 2015 CrossFit Open and has qualified as the 167th fittest CrossFit athlete in the world for his age group.
The Open is a five-week series of workouts with the top 200 athletes advancing to the second round of competition, which is a series of four high intensity CrossFit workouts over a four-day period.
We caught up with Williams on Monday before he completed the final of his four workouts.
"I feel as good now as I did 30 years ago," Williams said. "I have a 13-year-old and a 10-year-old so I have to stay moving for them as well. It gives me that functional fitness that I can squat down, pick up a box, and not worry about my back going out."
The top 20 individuals from the latest workout series will qualify for the 2015 CrossFit games to determine the fittest athlete.
