EUFAULA, AL (WTVM) - One southeast Alabama city is taking a tough approach to sexual predators, saying "one is too many."
The city of Eufaula held a special meeting Thursday night at the Eufaula Community Center, aimed at educating parents and teens on the dangers of sexual predators, especially in regards to social media.
The event featured several guest speakers and was open to anyone who wanted to attend, even non-Eufaula residents.
The city's police department says it's all about getting the message out and educating the community.
"Eufaula is not immune to sexual predators, like any other city," said Sergeant Donald Brown with the Eufaula Police Department. "Maybe not as much is the big metropolitan city, but it is not immune to it, so we are trying to educate parents on pitfall of social media."
Despite the sense of urgency surrounding them meeting, city leaders also stressed that there is no indication the city has a greater level of predators than other towns.
