Dancing Stars of Columbus gala raises money to benefit Alzheimer's research

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Dancers showed off their moves at The River Mill Event Center, all for a good cause.

The 2015 Dancing Stars of Columbus Gala mimic the popular ABC program Dancing with the Stars.

Dancers like Bunky Clark, Sandy Coolik, Will Dillon worked the dance floor to raise money and awareness in the fight against Alzheimer's.

"It's an event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association here locally in Columbus," said contestant Tripp Amos. "Our goal is to raise about a little over $300,000 tonight."

"It's such a worthy cause," added fellow contestant Trip Reynolds. "I mean it's a tremendous commitment to make but it's a small commitment for me to give back to the Alzheimer's Association."

The competition also had a judge panel mimicking Dancing with the Stars.
