COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - As if the pleasant weather outside weren't enough of a reason, now there's another reason for area residents to get out and ride their bikes.
May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast.
On Tuesday, dozens of Fountain City residents of all ages came out to show their love of biking at a Group Ride Special sponsored by Headquarter Nissan.
Participants say the event was a chance for bike lovers to meet fellow biking enthusiasts and just have a great time.
"It is fun, it is supportive, people can feel save and feel sense of community and a lot of fun," said Lara Baker, a Columbus rider. "It is such a great time out here and weather is always good."
Established in 1956, officials say National Bike Month is a chance for bike lovers to showcase the many benefits of bicycling, including healthy lifestyles and exploring communities.
