CPD celebrates officers during Wednesday's award ceremonies

CPD holds awards ceremony for employee appreciation week

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Police Department awarded its employees during two ceremonies on Wednesday for exemplary work in the office and in the field.

The awards are a part of Public Service Recognition Week, and CPD honored all of their employees with various awards at an 8 a.m. ceremony and a 2 p.m. ceremony at the Public Safety Building.

"It's employee appreciation week and our department takes great strides into really make our employees know they are needed and much more appreciated throughout the year," Lt. Joyce Dent-Fitzpatrick said.

Lt. Fitzpatrick also says this ceremony was a way for the organization to recognize officers who have done outstanding work and who go above and beyond the call of duty.

During the ceremonies, awards for Years of Service and Safe driving, Officer of the Year, Life Saving Award, and Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police's Operation Noble Eagle Pins were given to members of the force.
