FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Ft. Benning honored a very special group of people Thursday night.
The base took time to honor 75 dedicated volunteers, whose hard work has combined to save the base millions of dollars.
Last year, more than 3,400 Fort Benning volunteers donated more than 100,000 hours on post, which represent over $2 million in savings to the installation.
"Each of the volunteers here tonight had over 500 volunteer hours many of those double triple some quadruple," said Starla De Saussure, Army Volunteer Corp Manager. "So I am dealing with some awesome volunteers on post and they do my job easy."
Awards at the ceremony included Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer Family of the Year.
