COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local school is celebrating diversity on Friday.
Mount Olive Intermediate School celebrated diversity day by eating several foods from different cultures they studied throughout the year.
Some students were even dressed in clothing from places like Puerto Rico, Jamiaca and Mexico.
Organizers say it's important to teach students about diversity.
"Today is diversity day. A taste of culture around the world is very important in the Russell County School District and we have a diversity day for all our students. We have so many students with different backgrounds that we wanted to celebrate that today," Demetrica May said, an English Language teacher.
Students and teachers have been planning this event for about a month
