Columbus State University students receive degrees at ceremony

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It was big night for some Columbus State students.

The Columbus Civic Center was filled with people for a commencement ceremony Monday evening.

Family and friends came out to see more than 900 degrees awarded to CSU students who finished their courses.

University System of Georgia Chancellor Henry "Hank" Huckabee was the commencement speaker.

He spoke about why a degree should be more than just a means to finding a job.

"The largest investment of your life," Huckabee said. "The grand challenge if you will. Should to develop yourself as person."

Some students decorated their graduation hats with colorful images representing their field of study.

The commencement ceremony was free and open to the public.
