City council approves new deputy warden

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – On Tuesday, Columbus City Council approved Sgt. Daniel King as new deputy warden.

The Muscogee County Prison Warden Dwight Hamrick selected Sgt. Daniel King to fill the position of deputy warden of Administration/Care and Treatment at Muscogee County Prison.

King has served the Columbus Consolidated Government and the Muscogee County Prison for 18 years as a correctional counselor, correctional sergeant, shift supervisor and several other positions.

He also holds a General and Specialized Instructor Certification in the area of firearms.

With a plethora of credentials, King has a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University.

He is originally from Wallace, NC and he entered the U.S. Army rights out of high school. King later served the city of Albany as a police officer a year before he started working at the Muscogee County Prison.

Sgt. King has been married to Ms. Regina "Gail" King for 34 years and the couple has two daughters.

In his new position as deputy warden, King will oversee care, treatment and inspection of security issues.
