LAFAYETTE, AL (WTVM) – A student at LaFayette High School has now been charged with attempted murder, law enforcement agencies have confirmed.
Investigators said around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, they received a 911 call in reference to a man lying on the side of Alabama Avenue E., located near LaFayette High School.
Officers responded and found Frank Floyd, 20, on the ground with what appeared to be two gunshot wounds, one to his left shoulder and the other to his back.
Floyd was taken to Columbus Regional via life-flight helicopter. His condition is listed as unsatisfactory condition.
Investigators say Floyd was responsive at the scene and was able to name the person who shot him. The suspect has been identified as Phelix Andrew Lockhart, 18.
Lockhart, a student at LaFayette High School, has been charged with Attempted Murder. Investigators say LaFayette High School was placed on lockdown for a period of time out of an abundance of caution.
Police say it appears Lockhart and Floyd were having some sort of argument. Police say they believe Lockhart pulled the trigger.
