COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Students at one local middle school took a trip through Africa without leaving the classroom.
Aaron Cohn Elementary students used what they learned about Africa to turn their halls into an interactive field trip.
It included a tour throughout the Sahara Desert, rain forests and ended at the Indian Ocean.
"We wanted to take and not only to teach Africa but immerse the kids into Africa so they took ownership of their learning and they really drove the learning when the guest were in the classroom," Beth Leatherwood said, seventh grade teacher.
The students are giving another "Tour of Africa" at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
