St. Anne-Pacelli welcomes new high school baseball coach

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Pacelli Vikings have a new head baseball coach. The school announced on Tuesday that college baseball administrator Hart Mizell will take over the program.

Mizell has been director of baseball operations at Georgia Southern University since January 2015.

The native of  McRae, Ga. was a relief pitcher at Columbus State from 2012-13. Mizell was the Cougars' closer his senior year, posting a 2-2 record with nine saves and a 2.83 ERA, along with 36 strikeouts in 35 innings. He earned second team All-Peach Belt Conference honors.

Mizell went on to play one season professionally with the Joliet Slammers of the independent Frontier League.

"We are excited to welcome Hart Mizell to the Viking family," said Pacelli athletic director Alan Griffin. "His talents will have a positive impact, both on our fields and in our classrooms."

Mizell will also teach high school history at Pacelli.
