LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM/WXTX) - A Lee County, AL pastor has been sentenced to 152 months in prison following a manslaughter conviction earlier this year.
Timothy Williams was convicted of manslaughter in March after being retried for the 2012 shooting death of Leon Grady.
The first trial ended in a hung jury but Prosecutors say Williams acted as the judge and jury the day he shot Grady in the neck, so they re-tried the case. Grady was accused of assaulting his child's mother - William' daughter.
After two days of testimony it took the jury only a few hours to find Williams guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Lee County Assistant District Attorney Jessica Venturi said she was surprised by how quick the jury came back with a decision this time around. The victim's family broke down in tears after that verdict was read.
