OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Crews are on the scene after a one vehicle accident on Interstate 85 Northbound at the Columbus Parkway exit.
At about 3 p.m. CDT, a tanker truck went into the median to avoid colliding with a car and rolled over on its side. There were no injuries in the crash.
The tanker was carrying a corrosive material, however the trailer is intact and there are no leaks of any kind.
At this time the truck has been placed back on its wheels and the tow truck is working on getting it out of the median.
Both northbound lanes are blocked at this point, but traffic is being diverted off the Interstate at Exit 62, over the bridge and back onto the Interstate.
The Opelika Police Department asks citizens to be patient and cautious in the area.
The crash is expected to be cleaned up and the road opened by about 6 p.m. CDT.
