Several women honored at community service luncheon

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Five women in Columbus were recognized for their service to the community on Saturday.

The luncheon was organized by the Columbus Chapter of Justice, Unity, Generosity, and Service, International, Inc.

Today's honorees were Ms. Barbara Mitchell, Lisa Goodwen, Dr. Paula Walker King, Evelyn Turner Pugh and Ms. Christine James Rials.

"Our main thrust in our chapter is to improve the lives of children and youth. These ladies that we are recognizing today, all exemplify the improvement of lives of children in our community," Jeanette Marshall said.

The Columbus Chapter of J.U.G.S was founded in 2008. Today's event was held at the Convention and Trade Center.

News Leader 9's Semone Doughton was the emcee for Saturday's Women of Action Community Service Awards Luncheon.
