Auburn man arrested for breaking into motor vehicle

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – On Monday, May 5 the Auburn Police Division arrested Marcus J. Stephens.

Stephens, 21, resides in Auburn and he was arrested on a felony warrant for unlawful breaking and entering into a motor vehicle. He was also arrested on a misdemeanor warrant for theft of property in the third degree.

The arrest was the result of Auburn Police Division officers responding to a call reporting an auto burglary on May 25, 2015 at the 600 block of North Ross Street.

A victim reported that a subject made unlawful entry into a vehicle and stole items from the vehicle.

The suspect also stole items belonging to an additional victim.

Stephens was contacted during the commission of the crime by responding officers, and he was subsequently arrested and charged.

The property stolen from the victims totaled around $186 and the property was recovered.

Stephens was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $4,000 bond.
