COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The man accused of murder and arson in the deaths of his girlfriend and son will appear in a Muscogee County Superior courtroom for a death penalty hearing.
Defense attorneys for Brandon Conner have asked for a 30 day continuance after prosecutes announced they're seeking the death penalty.
Conner is accused of killing his girlfriend Rosella Mitchell and their baby, Dylan Conner, and then setting the house on fire with them inside.
It happened in Aug. of 2014 at the 1300 block of Winifred Lane.
If the death penalty motion is granted, prosecutors are asking for the first proceeding and arraignment to take place on the same day to expedite the case.
It is now scheduled for July 6 at 9 a.m.
