COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – More than 40 Wells Fargo volunteers are rolling up their sleeves to help out the Columbus Community this weekend.
This is all a part of Community Service Super Saturday, where hundreds of team members and friends participate in 26 volunteer activities across 20 Georgia cities in one day.
This volunteer effort has a big focus on housing for those in need, which is ideal for June's National Homeownership Month.
A total of $115,000 will be donated to upgrade the housing situations of nine Georgia families, by either building new homes or repairing existing ones.
The majority of this work is in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and they will receive a total $85,000.
Volunteers in Columbus will partner with House of Heroes to help a deserving veteran's widow.
The group will complete home repairs on Courtland Avenue. Wells Fargo is also presenting a $10,000 grant to assist with the project.
Volunteers will also lead children activities at Big Brothers Big Sisters and sort donations at Feeding the Valley Food Bank.
"I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday than serving our communities alongside our co-workers, friends and non-profit partners. We're so proud of our volunteers who are supporting the selfless work of these great organizations. Sometimes individual efforts may seem small, but when we join together we can make a huge impact on our community," said Business Banking Manager Greg Allmendinger.
