COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center is proud to announce its induction into TripAdvisor's Hall of Fame for 2015.
The award, offered for the first time this year, recognizes businesses and attractions that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews and have earned the travel website's Certificate of Excellence for five straight years.
"This distinction means a lot to us," said National Infantry Foundation President Ben Williams. "We know travelers put a lot of stock in TripAdvisor, and when they read all the great reviews the museum receives from fellow travelers, they can be confident their visit, too, will be meaningful and memorable."
TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website, launched the Certificate of Excellence program five years ago. It takes into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews and opinions submitted by travelers over a 12-month period, as well as a business's tenure and ranking on the site's Popularity Index.
To qualify for the award, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.
The National Infantry Museum is rated #1 out of 43 "things to do" in Columbus, and 826 of the 901 people from across the country and overseas who posted reviews rated it 5, or Excellent.
The museum's overall rating of 4.91 on a scale of 5 exceeds even the most popular attractions in Atlanta.
The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center opened June 19, 2009. Since then, more than 1.9 million people have visited the museum.
