FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - The 173rd Airborne Brigade recognized two Medal of Honor recipients Saturday morning on Fort Benning.
The group honored Sergeant Kyle White and Staff Sergeant Ryan Pitts by adding their names to the National Infantry Museum's Walk of Honor.
The memorial is one of a kind, honoring the fallen allies killed in action while serving with the 173rd in Vietnam from Australia and New Zealand.
Karen Riester, who serves as Secretary for the 173rd Airborne Memorial Board, said the memorial was about more than just an unveiling.
"It's also a chance for the soldiers, their friends and their families to come and celebrate their actions, but as the soldiers themselves had said, the memorial and the medal is not for them," Riester said. "It's for those who have fallen."
The 173rd memorial is dedicated to fallen Soldiers from Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
