COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Cancer survivors were recognized for their journey of triumph on Sunday June 14.
Survivors, families and caregivers were honored at the annual Hands of Hope celebration. It was held at the John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus.
Doctors and staff greeted survivors and invited them to create a "Hands of Hope" collage that will be on display throughout the facility.
"I have been through it three times. I have been a survivor for 18 years now. And having to celebrate a day like this, I'm just really thankful and blessed to be alive," Brenda Buchanan said, a breast cancer survivor
Survivors also released balloons into the sky as a sign of their strength.
