SUMTER COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - An escaped state inmate who was on the run for at least 36 hours is now back in custody.
Patrick Hester, 31, was caught early Wednesday morning at a landfill in Taylor County, after a search by several agencies by air and ground.
Authorities believe the Grady County native, who was close to finishing his sentence, escaped from a work truck as it was returning back to the county jail.
Sumter County's sheriff - who says Hester had 6 months left to serve - says Hester will now face 3-5 years of additional jail time. He was serving time for possession of meth.
