Auburn Police arrest Opelika man after tools, motorcycle stolen

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn Police arrested an Opelika man Monday on felony warrants charging him with burglary and theft of property.

Eddie J. Maddox, 28, is being held in the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for an $8,000 bond according to police.

In a news release, Auburn police said the arrest was the result of an investigation into a burglary of a business in the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 147 North that was reported to police on May 30.

Officers say they were informed that someone unlawfully entered the business and stole multiple tools and a Honda motorcycle. The stolen property had a value of more than $13,000.

As a result of that investigation Maddox, a previous customer of the business, was developed as a suspect.

Authorities say when officers found Maddox he was in possession of the stolen motorcycle and a subsequent search of his vehicle resulted in several of the stolen tools being recovered.

Detectives obtained arrests warrants charging Maddox with burglary 3rd degree and theft of property 1st degree and he was taken into custody.
