Page leads SE Amateur at halfway point

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Carter Page carded a 9-under-62 on Thursday to seize first place after two rounds of the 86th Southeastern Amateur at the Country Club of Columbus. The rising senior at N.C. State had eagles on the second and seventh holes to go with seven birdies and two bogeys to wind up the day at -10 for the tournament.

Oklahoma's Grant Hirschman matched that 62 to move to 9-under par, one shot back of Page.

Steve Fisk of Georgia Southern chipped in for eagle on the first hole en route to a 66 on the day. The winner of the Tuesday qualifying tournament is alone in third place, two shots off the lead at 8-under par.

First round leader John Jonas fell to a tie for fifth place at -5 after shooting 1-over 72.

Round three is scheduled to begin at 8 am ET. The top 50 golfers, plus ties will advance to Saturday's final round.
