COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Grant Hirschman reeled off a string of five straight birdies as part of a round of 63 on Friday to move to 17-under par and take a commanding five-shot lead after three rounds of the 86th Southeastern Amateur at the Country Club of Columbus.
Hirschman, who plays his collegiate golf at the University of Oklahoma, birdied the fourth and fifth holes as a warm up, then posted birdies from the seventh to 11th holes. He added three more on the day, ten in all, with just two bogeys.
Carter Page of N.C. State, the second round leader, shot 2-under 69 to move to 12 under par. He holds second place. Vince Whaley of Georgia Tech carded a 66. He's at 10-under par, all alone in third place.
