TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) - An alert for residents in the Shoals after police say they've received complaints about a musician trying to sell merchandise in Tuscumbia.

Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan says he's received complaints about people who claim to be working for a country rapper selling his CD and other items in city parking lots.

So just who is this country rapper?

According to his website, the artist is Mikel Knight.  He appears to be a new artist, however, there are no tour dates available.

Chief Logan says the group did not have the proper permits to be selling items in the city and asks anyone who sees them or is stopped by them to notify his department.

Chief Logan says he believes Tuscumbia is one of many cities to see Mikel Knight's roadies try to sell items on the street, raising concerns with solicitation.

"Based on what information we've been given across the country there are some questions about their business practice and labor practice that's showed a concern for us and we felt like it was in the best interest of our city not to give them a permit,” said Logan.

We've reached out to Mikel Knight via the contact information on the website and have not heard back.

Earlier today, our sister station, WSFA in south Alabama confirms reports have surfaced about the group being seen in Montgomery.
