LaGrange seeks grant for dog park

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - The city of LaGrange is asking for your help to build a place for pet's to have fun.

The city is one of 15 finalists in a national grant competition to build the town's first dog park. The contest is sponsored by PetSafe for $100,000.

The winner is based on a popular vote for who can make the best 30 second video of a public service announcement.

If LaGrange wins, the park will be located on a piece of land off of West Haroldson Street.

Senior Planner Leigh Threadgill says the dog park would be a great asset for the community.

"It's something that we have a lot of dog owners and pet lovers in the community and it would be nice to have an off leash area for them to play and socialize," Threadgill said. "It's also the kind of park amenity that has gained a lot momentum nationwide."

You can vote for LaGrange by logging on to the city's website.

The competition ends on July 22, and the winner will be announced on July 31.
