COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) has announced plans for an upcoming veterans focused tour through middle Georgia.
The Ranking Member of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs will be accompanied by Robert McDonald, Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The tour will be complete with VA staff meetings at VA facilities within the 2nd Congressional District and two veterans-focused town hall meetings in Columbus and Macon. Bishop says the purpose of the tour is to improve VA transparency and highlight the district-specific needs of veterans in Middle and Southwest Georgia. Area veterans and local service organizations are encouraged to attend the town hall meetings.
The first one will be held in Macon on Wednesday, July 1 at Central Georgia Tech, Building H in Room 111. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting will start at noon. For more information visit the event's
