PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Family and friends gathered Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil in honor of a Columbus man found murdered in Phenix City Saturday night.
The vigil was held on 17th Avenue, the place where police found Edric Robinson's body. Police say he had been shot in the stomach. Those who attended the vigil lit candles and prayed as some fought back tears.
Earlier, the victim's father Eddie Robinson spoke exclusively to News Leader 9 about the case. He says his son was tricked and ambushed the night he was gunned down, and he's hoping his son's killer will be brought to justice.
"My son got killed, I need some closure, I don't need no more killing, especially my kids, cause I can't take anymore," said Robinson.
The family has set up a memorial fund to help pay for funeral arrangements. If you'd like to help, go to any Wells Fargo Bank locations in Columbus and ask to donate to the Edric Robinson fund.
