LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – An Auburn man accused of killing his 5-year-old stepdaughter appeared in court Wednesday morning.
Only one witness took the stand for this case. Detective Michael Creighton answered questions from both sides about this open investigation.
According to police, George Barton admitted to striking Caley Presley no more than 10 times with a belt.
The Lee County District Attorney asked the judge to dismiss first-degree domestic violence and aggravated child abuse charges, in order to focus on capital murder charges. The judge did drop those charges and Barton is being held without bond.
