COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The WIC Program is sponsored their annual Farmer's Market Nutrition Program at the Columbus Health Department on Friday, July 10.
The program provided coupons valued at $30 per family to active WIC participants including women, infants over six months and children. All WIC participants were able to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables directly from local farmers.
In order to receive produce participants had to take their WIC card and a picture I.D. to the event.
Some of the items given away include plums, watermelons and potatoes among others.
On Saturday they will host the same event for military families from 8 a.m. until midnight.
