A group of young girls had the opportunity to learn about fitness and learned how to empower themselves.
The YMCA and Insane Fitness invited 50 girls ages five to 14 to their Sheros events.
The program uses fitness to teach female empowerment to young girls and show them that they can be heroes just like the guys.
The girls ran, did pushups and other exercises to build up body strength.
Insane Fitness Model Nettie Bryant says the Sheroes program also teaches girls how to manage stress.
"A lot of times young kids tend to take out stresses or aggression on other children," Bryant said. "Whereas we show them to deal with it through fitness it helps them to understand that it is not always about being negative."
