HOOVER, AL (WAFB) -

LSU great and SEC Network analyst Anthony "Booger" McFarland says the time is now for the Tigers and head coach Les Miles. The Tigers finished last season with an 8-5 record and were defeated by Notre Dame in The Music City Bowl 31-28.

"I don't care what anyone says and I get criticized for being tough on Les," says McFarland, "If his seat is not hot, it's warm. I don't know how people look at it, but eight wins isn't good enough anymore. When i got to LSU in '95, eight wins, we'd throw a party. Like literally, we'd throw a party."

But the times have obviously changed. National championships in 2003 and 2007, along with another championship appearance in 2011, have drastically altered what LSU fans expect from their program. After opening home against McNeese, the Tigers then most travel to Mississippi State, before hosting Auburn in Tiger Stadium.

"He's got to get to 10 wins," McFarland continues, "After the way he finished last year against Notre Dame and the way the team finished, and I'm not going to put it all on coach, but we all know it starts at the top. He's the CEO of this operation. So they have to be able to bounce back, from what they did in the bowl game. This is a very critical year. And it's important not only for the team's psyche, not only for Les Miles, but for the program. They need to get off to a good start."
