COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), visited Columbus on Saturday at Solid Rock Church in an event that featured a speech by one of the top tier Republicans running for the White House in 2016.
Tickets are $20 each to cover costs and a buffet dinner provided by Country's Bar-B-Que, according to the organizers of this event, the Muscogee County Republican party. Leaders with that group also say this is not a fundraiser, but an opportunity to hear from Ted Cruz.
"People are waking up, they are waking up across Georgia, all across the country, they're starting to realize that this doesn't make any sense, we gotta get back to the free market principals, and the constitutional liberties that built America, that made our nation great, and I'll tell ya, the electricity, the excitement, we're seeing the grassroots here in Georgia, and all across the county, it's breath taking," Cruz said after his speech.
Muscogee County Republican Party leaders say this was not an endorsement of Cruz. MCRP says they will provide this opportunity to any presidential candidate who visits the Columbus area.
