Army Vet Asked To Leave Mall Property He Was Protecting

An armed army veteran aiming to protect his fellow service members at a local recruiting station was asked to leave the property Wednesday morning.

Donnie Knapp, a retired Army Master Sergeant, was seated outside the Army and Marine recruiting centers near Peachtree Mall in Columbus armed with a loaded AR-15 Tuesday. Today, management at Peachtree Mall asked Knapp to leave.

They say company policy states security on the property must be hired and usually works closely with the Columbus Police Department. Knapp told us he was looking out for his fellow servicemen. His actions were prompted by the recent attack on a military recruiting center in Chattanooga, Tennessee at a Navy operations support center, killing four Marines and a sailor.
