Crawdads one win away from Sunbelt League championship series

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Javarrius Liddell drove in two runs and scored another, while Brian Headley struck out 14 in eight innings of work to lead the Phenix City Crawdads to a 4-1 win over the Peachtree City Chukars on Thursday night in game one of their best-of-three Sunbelt League semifinal series.

The game was played at Glenwood School's Bill Bowers Park.

Liddell's two-out single in the fourth brought in Drew Lingo and Tanner Knowles to give the Crawdads a 2-1 lead. Liddell scored in the sixth inning on a Kevin Manos groundout with the Crawdads' final run of the game.

Headley was dominant from the start, striking out seven in his first three innings of work en route to his 14 K's. He struck out the side in both the second and eight innings.

Jesse Coleman threw a scoreless ninth to earn a save.

The Crawdads can close out the series Friday night at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 pm ET.
