Feds seize emails, electronics and more in death of Valdosta teen

VALDOSTA, GA (WTVM) -

Federal investigators seized emails, cell phones, computers, and other electronics from the family of two brothers in connection to the mysterious death of a Valdosta teen.

Seventeen-year-old Kendrick Johnson was found dead inside a rolled up gym mat at the school two years ago.  Students discovered his body in January 2013.

After investigating the incident, Lowndes County authorities ruled the death an accident, saying the teen suffocated after crawling inside the mat to retrieve a shoe. But Johnson's parents believe he was murdered, and have since raised questions about the two brothers.

Nine months after Johnson’s death, the Justice Department launched a federal investigation, but very few details about their findings have been released to the public.
