PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – Money and possible tax increases was the focus of Monday's Phenix City Council meeting.
They discussed the 2015-2016 general fund budget and decided to hold a town hall meeting to discuss potential increases for residents.
Council members, along with the city manager, talked in depth about potential increases for garbage collection, water and sewage and the sales tax.
Phenix City Council wants to be sure the public understands what the increases would be used for, so they are holding a town hall meeting to discuss the budget, potential increases and then amenities.
The town hall meeting will be held Tuesday, August 25 at 6 p.m. in the Phenix City Central Activities Center.
Leaders tell us the amenities would include Phenix City school system funding, a museum, a new facility for a new fire station and police precinct to certain growing areas, and funding for the Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
