MIDLAND, GA (WTVM) - It's being called the biggest online organizing event of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Dozens gathered at the L V Bar and Grill in Midland on Wednesday night as democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders tried to mobilize the progressive base of his party in a massive way.
The former Vermont Senator broadcast a video message over his website to tens of thousands of people at gatherings all across the country. Sanders' campaign calls the event historic, saying there has never been a political online organizing event this early in a campaign that involved so many people.
Sanders supporter Robert Battle was at the Midland party. He was thrilled to see the presidential hopeful deliver his message on such a large scale.
"You see him in the news every now and then, he's mostly running in the background but you see him in social media daily and it's a big deal," said Battle.
About two dozen people gathered to watch the live streaming event in Midland. More than 100,000 people in every state were expected to tune in to Sanders' message.
